Review: Fatblaster Coconut Detox

Not a sponsored review

I had recently come to a standstill with my weight loss and I was generally feeling frumpy, heavy, bloated.. you name it, I was feeling it.

One day when I was in Priceline, I came across the Fat Blaster Coconut Detox, which was on sale and down from $40 to $20.

I have done the lemon detox before, which goes for 5days, so I knew I could handle not eating for 2.

The instructions on the bottle read....

1. Take 3 servings of the Coconut Detox product a day.

2. Exercise for 30 minutes every day
(Suggested exercises include low intensity exercise such as Pilates and Yoga)

3. If you feel the need to eat, ensure a healthy diet of steamed vegetables and healthy snacks from our snack suggestions

4. Drink 2 litres of water (8 glasses) every day.

5. After the 2 days, consider our maintenance program.

Day 1

I got up and was hungry instantly, probably because I knew I couldn't eat haha. I drank water on the way to work and then made me first coconut drink when I got to work. The taste was surprisingly pretty good.. it is like a tropical pineapple and coconut flavour. Following the instructions though, the "meal" is only 250ml, which you are suppose to drink over 2-3 hours... I struggled to make it last that long.

By lunch time I was all over the place.. I was tired, feeling dizzy and finding it really hard to concentrate. After lunch I even started to get flu like symptoms.

I continued to drink a lot of water, but when I got home I needed to eat something small so I had a tin of Tuna in spring water (approved by the diet) and I tell you Tuna has never tasted so darn good!!!

It was an early night in bed for me.

Day 2

Woke up with a load of energy. This day was a lot easier than the first, I even managed to go for a run in the morning.

During the day I was dreaming about food, but I experienced none of the fatigue from the first day.

At night we went with out friends to the movies, and as they were munching away on all my favourite snacks, I was so tempted that I finally HAD to eat and I enjoyed an apple. An apple at the movies - that's a first for me! :)

Results

A and I both did the detox and his results were ridiculous.. 3  point something kilos. The man is a weight loss machine!

I lost 1.6kgs and broke through the barrier I was struggling with. This was the Tuesday, by the Saturday I had still not gained any weight.. in fact I had lost a tiny bit more.

After our cheat day Sunday and the Easter Show, I have put about 500grams on but it doesn't look like it will stay.

After the detox, my stomach felt flat, the bloating was good and my body felt like it was "working" better.

Oh and I should mention, that as an avid V in the morning drinker (I don't like Coffee) since the detox I really haven't felt the need for it. I may have one here and there, but it helped me to break that nasty habit too.

If you have the will power, I would recommend doing this... 2 days isn't that long to receive the benefits!

Aspro Blu (Melbourne)

We had no idea where we wanted to go for our 3 year anniversary dinner in Melbourne. We wanted somewhere nice, but more importantly delicious!!

A being the researcher he is, looked up many reviews and comments about lots of restaurants in Melbourne, and surprised me with Aspro Blu in Hardware Lane.

Something to celebrate.. he still loves me!

I love Greek food and A loved the fact that they had so many raving reviews!!! They didn't have a menu on their website, but A was confident enough with the reviews and booked a table (something he would never normally do, so I knew the reviews must have been out of this world).

Dress- Dat Girl (www.datgirl.com.au)

When I saw the menu I almost died with excitement... Everything read "definition of yum" and I wanted to order the whole menu twice, but I contained myself by remembering that the bodycon dress (by Dat Girl of course) probably wouldn't let me!

We started with my fav - a trio of dips!! The dips were awesome and the breads were plentiful, from memory it was around the $15 mark.

Calamari - A's favourite and it was delicious, fresh and grilled (around the $13 mark). A said it was the closest to what he use to eat in Greece.

These were fetta and I think ricotta balls? Sorry it's hard to remember but I do remember that they were delicious and the sauce had a bit of a kick to it. Also around that $13 mark. I savoured every bite of these bad boys.

After our 3 entrees we were feeling how our delightful French waiter said we might - pretty full, but it was a special occasion so we weren't stopping anytime soon!

Bring on the mains...

Slow roasted lamb. Greeks always do lamb so well and this fall of the bone and melt in my mouth lamb was no exception. From memory it was around $24. Ohh and the gravy sort of thing that came with it, well I could of drank it, it was that scrummy. yep I said scrummy lol.

Chat potatoes - I love A's mums potatoes so I can't say these were assss good as them, but they were a great side nonetheless.

(there is chicken underneath there)

Chicken with some sort of balsamic sauce that let me tell you was some of the juiciest, sauciest chicken I have ever ever eaten!! I litterally held in every mouthful, closed my eyes and enjoyed it. A couldn't get over my reaction, then he tried it.. he stopped teasing me.

A said this food rivaled his yiayias ( the biggest compliment a Greek can give) and I enjoyed every second of it.

The ambience was great, and the service was impeccable.

If your a melbournite or visiting Melbourne I suggest you try Aspro Blu... You can even take your Greek friends there ;)

We finished the night off with a cocktail or two  at Gin Palace.

Jacket- ASOS MATERNITY haha

Twas a GREAT night.

New York, New Yoorrkkk.

Yes I was singing the song when writing the title of this post. :)

Peek a boo!

As some of you know I had New York themed 30th birthday party on Saturday night. I wore my ASOS maternity, yes maternity, faux fur coat to get in to theme.

It was raining here all Saturday, but this coat is so darn warm I had to take it off sometimes when I was outside.

Birthday girl

I also wore this Blue Juice backless black lace dress and my new heels, you can see here

Upon arrival, the birthday girl gave us all a New York themed cupcake, which I thought was super sweet and thoughtful of her. I got the yellow cab.

The party was in a private section at LL wine and dine in Potts Point. Firstly, I must say the service here was very good and I couldn't have asked for anymore from out waitress. However, the first thing you notice about the place as you walk in is the tiles, the slippery almost fall and break your neck kind of tiles. We were warned by the waitress, but it didn't change the fact that you were scared to walk on them, even the guys in their flat guy shoes were slipping. We all had to basically walk like penguins, doing baby steps so our face didn't meet the ground.

Cocktail and cupcake, what more does a girl need?

The private area was nicely decorated, although a little bit squishy and hot. The place was set up with stools, small stools, with no cushion for your bottom or support for your back. These weren't too bad at first, but after sitting there for 4hours most people were very uncomfortable.

Shanghai Bling

As for the food, the food was DELICIOUS!! We got the $70 Diamond Banquet, complete with complimentary cocktail (also great). The massaman curry, won tons and pork belly were by far my favourite. In general, there was plenty of food and we all left with nicely rounded bellies. However, when it came to dessert, 2 plates of jam donut balls (yum) were brought out, one tart and one brownie sundae thing. That was it for 12 people. We were all given a spoon and told to enjoy. The guy sitting next to me asked for plates to the waitresses shock (she gave us them though). So yes, a spoon and a sundae to share with 12 people - does anyone else thing this is a little strange/weird/yucky??

To share with 11 other people.

The only other thing I could complain about really, was the fact that they stuck the 30person group with an extra 10% surcharge. I know quite a few places do this for group bookings these days, but I think when they are ordering a banquet it is just plain rude. Every person there was paying $70 PLUS drinks, surely they didn't need the extra 10%. I think if they are going to ask for the surcharge they should then advertise the price for functions as $77.

Taking advantage of the birthday girl..

I know there is a lot of negative here, but like with many birthday parties, I really did have a great night and overall enjoyed my experience at LL Wine and Dine. I won't rush to go back there, but I enjoyed it.

Sandy & I

The birthday girl's fabulous shoes!

I have another 30th this weekend, this time it is Zombie theme!!! Talk about total opposites.. haha.

Does anyone know where I could purchase Zombie makeup from?

Review: The Steamer

Some of you might remember that a few months ago I purchased a garment steamer. the company through Spreets took forever to send it to me, so it wasn't until 3 months later that I got to try it out and review it for you.

The first night I got the steamer into the apartment, I set it up and grabbed a blouse to iron. The setup itself was super easy, with a basic instruction manual that even men could read hehe :P It probably took me all of 10 minutes to setup. The steamer is very compact and easy to move around the place on its wheels. You can also adjust the height of the pole part depending on your height, if you're sitting or standing.

For this review I started by steaming my Portman's work shirt.

This is the basic technique of steaming. The item of clothing is on a coat hanger, which then sits on the steamer hook. When I first got the steamer I kept getting water marks on my clothing, but I have now perfected the art and with a simple change in angle I no longer have water marks.

This is the clothing, lint removal head. The steamer also comes with another head (and a handy carry bag to store the accessories in) for steaming your furniture or blinds. It worked well on our couch.

Unfortunately, after I finished steaming the shirt I realised the time and had to dash off to work, so the only finished photo I have is this one...

Luckily (for the sake of this review) I took photos of my long skirt when I steamed it to.

This skirt took me approximately 10 minutes and no backaches to get crease free.

The left hand side is after a few minutes of steaming, the right is how it originally looked.

WULLLAHHH!!
10minutes. I swear.

Pros:
No need to setup ironing boards
No backaches from leaning over a board
Compact, lightweight design with wheels
Super fast
No ironing crease (uno when you iron one part and crease another, or the edge of the ironing board)
Super easy to use - Even my boys can

Cons:
Water can drop on your clothes if you don't hold it properly
There is no temperature setting (but this is probably because steam is okay with most things)
The water needs to be refilled more often than with an iron

I would recommend a steamer to anyone. For the first time ever in my life, I actually don't freak out when I see creases in the clothes I want to wear to work that day. I loathe ironing, but I have no issues with steaming =)

More Weekend

I have already posted about Sunday, but my weekend was so busy that I think it justifies another post.

Friday night I had a friend's birthday party at Aurora Bar in Circular Quay. I was meeting A in the city, so I figured it was the perfect time (without A telling me to hurry up) to try out the sock bun. The sock bun is the same as the bun people do with a doghnut, just the poor version, because you actually use a sock.

 Tada!

I don't think this is too shabby for my first attempt?

When I met up with A this is how the conversation went,

A: "you look good tonight"
S: "thanks, I have your sock on my head"
A: "what? Oh you did the sock thing - is it a good sock?"
S: "naaa..well it didn't have a partner"
A: "okay then"
S: "yeah I had to cut it though"
A: "whaaaaatttttt??!! I'll just go into your clothes and start cutting them up"

LOL. so dramatic! :P

Junk dress worn as a top, H&M skirt, Novo boots and
stockings, which didn't look this thick in reality lol.

I felt a little Jersey on Friday night with the leopard print on.

Saturday after dance class, A wanted to take me on a lunch date for my birthday.
Originally he went to take me to a Tapas bar at Rydges, but they had a function on. We were told we could eat, but only outside and there would be no table service. Pass.

Luckily, A had a back up plan - Zimzala in Cronulla.

Zimzala was right on the beach and our table was in the perfect position at the front. It was so relaxing and the staff were professional and friendly. It was refreshing. When did good service become refreshing? argh.

A insisted I get a cocktail for my birthday, so I obliged. I had a Latin Love, with two types of Rum and Icecream, it was sooo delicious!!!

For entree we had bread with baba ganoush and olive oil. I love dips and bread - they're my favourite, I could eat them forever.

For mains we shared the spatchcock and lamb back strap. Both meals were so yummy, that A and I really tried to savour each piece. All the different elements on the plate really worked together.

After our meal, we topped the date off with a coffee (read: Chai Latte for Sarah) by the water. I cannot rave enough about Zimzala and I foresee many more dates there. The service was impeccable, the waiters were polite and well spoken and the food was amazing - good portion sizes and LOADS of flavour.

After lunch all I wanted to do was nap with my full belly. I rested for a while, but then I had to get ready for my birthday dinner with my mum and older brother at Sicilians in Parramatta.

fooling around with my photographer haha
Forever 21 top, Ebay tights, ASOS ankle boots

I had been to Sicilians before and it was yummy, so that's why I picked it, but on Saturday night I just think everything was lacking because of how busy they were. We ordered a garlic bread to start, then later ordered an entree serving of Calamari. The Calamari came and there was still no sign of the garlic bread. When we asked the waitress she told us yes it was definitely coming. We waited, but 15minutes later there was still no garlic bread. Were they making the bread? lol. We asked another waiter to be told that originally we asked the wrong waitress and that's why it wasn't coming (yes blame the customer, that always works), but he would now order it. My mum said they better make it 2 servings now because we were so hungry. Out came 2 servings and they charged us for both.. not surprising, but a little disappointing.

my dinner guests

After we finished our bread, someone finally took our order for mains, then the long wait started for our food.

A's chicken pizza

Gnocchi with scallops. The Gnocchi itself was soft and fluffy.. mmm.

Lamb Shanks- mum said they were okay, but not tender enough.

The food itself was pretty yummy, but not as good as when I have been there during the week. Granted, they were extremely busy, but I just think they need more staff and training on customer service skills. Despite the bad service at Sicilians I was in great company, so I still had a good night.
At dinner, mum gave me the presents from her and my puppy (who signed my card also).

I had told her I wanted more necklaces, so I was super happy to unwrap these babies.

My brother also gave me a brand new full gas bottle for the outdoor heater we recently purchased. It was a very practical and much needed present.

I think I jam packed as much as I could in to this weekend, but I loved every minute of it.
