I am nervous writing this post. Nervous because I'm scared of failure I guess? Nervous because I know this is one more step I can't turn back from and nervous about bad criticism.
I have mentioned Dat Girl in a few posts here and there, but never actually mentioned what it is.
Dat Girl is my latest Project. Dat Girl is an affordable Australian online clothing boutique set to launch in September.
Everyone has been at a cafe, nightclub, restaurant and mall and seen a girl who is wearing an amazing outfit and she has you either saying or wondering "wow I like her style!" "where'd she get that from?" "what does she do?" "who is Dat Girl?". Every girl (inclduing you) has been the girl who's outfit has left others wondering, whether we know it or not, and the aim of this store is to provide the outfits that do just that!
Dat Girl will stock clothes in a variety of styles, will be easy to navigate and (mark my words) will not have any item of clothing over $200, because Dat Girl isn't about turning heads because of the name on a tag, but rather because of the entire look.
At the current time, I have some great, perhaps less known Australian brands on board and I'm set to buy some more closer to launch date.
I am also currently in the process of designing the website.
I'd love to know from YOU what your pet peeves and loves are of online shopping. So far all the feedback I have received has been really helpful and I am hoping the finished product will reflect what people are telling me they would want in their ideal store.
I'd also love it if you could 'like' the Dat Girl Facebook page here. As we get closer to launch, I'll be releasing more photos of upcoming fashion, hosting giveaways and giving discount codes to Facebook followers.
I am really excited, petrified and nervous about this project, but I guess if you never try you can never succeed, right?
Good on you! All the best with your venture!
ReplyDeletePet peeves are when your credit card is charged immediately but goods aren't despatched for another week or longer. And when things are showing out of stock and there are no plans to ever have them back in stock (it's like a carrot dangling you can never get!).
I like if something is out of stock you can set an email alert for when it is back in stock (book depository style).
Thanks Emma. We will be sending out clothes every night (except weekends) so hopfeully this should solve the problem. Thanks for the tip about out of stock clothing, I really hate that too!!
DeleteThanks again x
Have you visit the etail queen's blog? She's a fellow voguette and big on shopping online. She's written some posts asking the same questions (so read all the comments) and has rated the big name online shops for things they do well and terribly.
ReplyDeleteJust a link...http://www.etailqueen.com/2012/01/etailers-dont-no-filter.html
Deleteahhhh I do remember reading one of hers on mannequins v models. Thanks hun, i'll check it out xx
Deletep.s. I'm having models :)
DeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emma on when your CC is charged but they don't send your item when they charge.
Can't wait to see what sort of clothes you will be stocking!
Thanks TJ... I have uploaded some items on the Facebook page already, so head to www.facebook.com/datgirlau to check it out.
DeleteWe will be posting items out every night, so hopefully that can eliminate that problem.
What a great venture, best of luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rhiannon xx
DeleteAwesome venture, am so excited to see your launch. I love it when you get responses from online shops for your queries and complaints in a timely manner. Makes the customer experience that much better. It'll be hard work for you, but at the same time great fun I am sure...
ReplyDeleteGreat tip!! I figure great customer service is just as important as great clothes! It will be a tonne of hard work, but hopefully the end result will be a great online store that stays around for a long time...
Deletegood luck! Can't wait to see what is on offer.
ReplyDeleteI find it annoying when items are still showing in search results but are in fact sold out - total waste of time.
Multiple search features are good like on the birdsnest website.
And always, discount codes/free shipping are a great motivator xxx
Thanks Peta. I agree with that - once an item is sold in all sizes GET IT OFF THE SITE until it comes back in.
DeleteI am working on discount codes as we speak.... :)
Oh wow that is so exciting! Good on you! :)
ReplyDeleteI think another really important thing other than what the ladies above has listed is some sort of size chart. It's so frustrating to order a shirt and then it run small or super large and not fit.
Thanks honey.
DeleteOoooh I have heard this from a few ladies and so I am working on getting accurate size charts at the moment, which will differ according to the brand of clothing. When stocking multiple brands, you can't possibly expect one chart to cover it all!
Wow, this is awesome :) Congrates!
ReplyDeleteVery excited to see it when it's all up and running!
I agree with Miss Kirax with the size chart, it's not always easy to work out sizes... and also freight charges, I would love to see it easily visable so you are aware exactly how much the item costs including freight, before checking out :)
x
Megs I hate that too and have to sometimes "fake" a transaction just to find out, but I never thought of it until now. THANK YOU!!! XX
DeleteYou are soo awesome!! Good on you for starting this =D I remember you posting about a project you have going on =] Im soo happy and excited for you and I wish you all the success! I just liked your fb page =D
ReplyDeleteHmmm I really like how Asos is set out compared to all the other online stores i shop at. I like that they have a lot of categories ie. dresses can be broken down to work dress, evening dress, casual etc.
awww Thanks Veronica, I think you must be one of my biggest fans! :P
DeleteThanks for the feedback and the like, I hope I sell clothes you want to wear xx
Sounds great. will def be checking it out when it goes live. I like the refunds part if you don't fit the item or its not right, you can send it back and receive a refund I.e endless.com for shoes. And having the PayPal option makes paying so much greater as you don't have to have your purse on you at all times for online shopping.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree, easy refunds are essential!! PayPal is actually easier for the shop owner too hehe.
DeleteHow exciting! Well done, and good on you for following your dreams and making it all happen! Good luck with it all, and I look forward to seeing the results of your hard work! x
ReplyDeleteThanks sweeety, fingers crossed it all works out xx
DeleteWishing you all the best on this project! Can't wait to see the site! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks ahhhdri. I am really excited to see how it turns out too xx
DeleteOh sounds exciting, can't wait to see what you'll have there.
ReplyDeleteMy #1 pet peeve is when things are out of stock yet still listed on the website for months. And also over the top shipping prices. But apart from that I don't have any other issues.
Good luck!
Thanks MrsB... hopefully you'll like what I have planned for shipping, I'll post on it soonish.. xx
DeleteWow this is so exciting! Just liked the FB page, I can't wait to see it! I agree on what everyone has posted in regards to out of stock items/freight charges, and I also love it when it is super easy to search through things by colour/style/size ASOS style!
ReplyDeleteGood luck :)
Thanks Jennifer every bit of advice helps, especially as I talk to the web designer!! xx
