Our Ceremony

Originally we were going to have our ceremony in the Greek Orthodox Church, but now for a long (and boring) reason, we are not able to do that anymore. This means more planning for me. I relish in planning, event organisation and the like, but I have to admit I was kind of looking forward to not having to plan this aspect of the wedding.

Anyhoo, since we found this out last week we have been checking out spots for a ceremony. I think the style of dress I want won't go with a garden wedding and so we have been looking at alternatives to a garden.

The current top three are

1. St Stephen's Uniting Church, Macquarie Street

2. The Garrison Church, The Rocks

3. The Rooftop at the Swiss Grand in Bondi.

Both of these churches allow you to get married there regardless of religion and are absolutely stunning, especially the Garrison, but I also love the rooftop as something different.

Which one do you like or do you have any suggestions for a ceremony space in Sydney?

P.S. SORRY for not replying straight away to comments, my work computer is no longer letting me and neither is the Vodafone network on my mobile :( Thank you for all your lovely comments, especially those regarding my puppies, much appreciated xx

  3. Hi Babybluez Really they wouldnt let you? I am greek ortho and I have heard there have been some issues with church's and stuff too!? So I take it you aren't Greek? That's ok a church is a church in my books. I really love this one The Garrison Church, The Rocks. You could do something FABULOUS with the pews and floral arrangements!

    1. Yeahh like I said long story. My Future hubby is Greek, but both him and his family have the same thoughts as tou and I "a church is a church". We all agree it is not worth stressing over as well.

  5. I love the 2nd church and the rooftop, both very nice. Just one thing to consider though, they are all in the city or eastern suburbs and your reception is in brighton le sands, is that going to be a huge mission to get around or will u provide transport for ur guests like a bus. Just a thought.. Love all ur options though, so pretty. :-)

    1. The second church is my favourite too! I really don't think travel would be a problem. I think in Sydney it is standard that you travel between places and the city to brighton is only 20mins, 25 absolute max. Thanks for the feedback though, it is good when people make me consider everything, because I just fall for the prettiness :)

  6. Garrison Church is lovely, but it has no aircon, I went to a November wedding 2 years ago and it was 40 degrees... it wasn't pleasant.

Which Church have you gone to? St Spyridon is quite strict. My H2B is Catholic and we are getting married at a Serbian Orthodox Church. He hasn't had to convert...My friend was Anglican and married in a Greek Church (have you tried more then ones?)

What about the Chapel at Little Bay? Oh actually that will be too small for your numbers.

Or St Peter's Anglican in Watsons Bay? http://www.stpeterswb.org.au/WSP/

    1. I'm not telling the full story but it is a little more complicated than just not been Greek Orthodox. My FH siblings all married non Greek Orthodox, but they were able to be married in the church. It is just that I am a "special" case hahaha. I don't think FH wants to check out other Greek churches, because he really doesn't mind.

Chapel at little bay was too small.

St Peters looks nice, i'll put it on the list. Pitty about no aircon in Garrison :(
