My Valentines

I'm not sure if you remember last year's post, which you can see here, but I mentioned last year that A and I came to an agreement that each year 1 of us would be the present buyer and the other would be the organiser of the plans/supriser.

 

This worked our perfectly for this year, with all our wedding related expenses.

 

I was the supriser this year and I was so so so excited for the night, way more than A because I knew what was in store!

 

At around 4:30pm, I got an email from security saying "parcel for you" and I thought nothing of it, A doesn't usually send me things to work and I thought it was probably just something boring I had ordered for my office, plus I was busy trying to get out of work on time, so I thought I'd just leave it.

 

At 5pm I get a call from security "Sarah we are going to eat your chocolates" to which I replied "What chocolates? Ooooo it's a special package!" and I ran downstairs to see what it was...

 

 

 

 

My first EVER box of a dozen long stemmed roses, ohh how I loved them!!!

 

 

Of course, I think boys are entitled to flowers as well and at lunch time I had picked these up for A. He looks thrilled to be holding them doesn't he? :P

 

We headed down towards darling harbour, and with some time to spare, we ducked into a bar for a beginning cocktail.  

 

 

 

 

I forget what it was called, but it was tequila based and delicious!

 

After our cocktail we continued on our journey, and I was being all secretive until I couldn't find the entrance to the place and we had to turn around... then A got cluey and said "We're not going to the Wildlife Park are we?"

 

Even when I said yes he didn't believe me and then I explained how we were getting canapes, a sit down meal with the Koalas and drinks for 3 hours.

 

He couldn't stop hugging me and telling me how well I did in planning the surprise. He was so excited.

The night was great - we started by wandering around looking at the animals, sipping on champagne and eating entree canapes.

 

Only 15 couples were allowed, so it was nice and intimate - it felt like the whole place was open just for us!

Then we sat down for a sit down dinner, we shared our meals and let me tell you, this food was good if I was in a restaurant, let alone in a wildlife park - it was beyond my expectations!

 

 

It was also awesome that these little guys were in the trees around us. After we finished eating, A then surprised me with 2 necklace and earring sets. As long as I am with this man, I will never ever need to buy myself jewellery.

 

 

Darling Habour even provided us with a fireworks display.

 

After dinner, desert canapes were served and then we found out about the giant 5mtr, 700kg croc!

 

 

By the end of the talk, I think it is safe to say that I was rather "Merry"

At 9:45pm we were told that we could run through Madame Tussuad's next door before it closed if we wanted to. Wanted to? of course we do!

 

 

 

A and I dashed through taking photos with as many wax figures as we could.

 

It was such a fun night and the next day A was still telling me how much he enjoyed it!

 

Can't wait to marry that man xx

Randomness

I have been a less frequent aka bad blogger of late. When I have spare time lately, the last thing I feel like doing is thinking or typing or staring at a computer - the perils of running an online store I guess?!

 

Anyways, I do enjoy blogging and I will try to behave more blogger like, starting with a randomness post..

 

 

Last night I caught up with my girl Priscilla, for a girly gossip catchup chat. I love our chats like this and we hadn't done one in a while, so 3 hours, food and coffee was needed!

 

I felt so refreshed and cleansed when I went home haha.

 

 

Vienna Chocolate... mmmmmMm!

 

 

Dat Girl is featured on Scoopon at the moment, it is exciting to see my baby out there and see people respond to it - it is also really nerve racking!

 

 

A returned to Sydney for goof last week - YAAAHHOOOOOO!!!

Before we moved in together, we use to have a date night tradition of doing something, anything together every Tuesday night. We kind of forgot about this when we moved in together, but now we have started the tradition again.

 

 

We went to La Cita at Cockle Bay Wharf for tapas platters. The top platter was my favourite, the bread was warm, the meatballs were soft and the Chorizo, ohhhh the Chorizo!

 

 

 

We had a family lunch on Sunday and I wore a Dat Girl blazer, pretty petals. I am now obsessed with this blazer, I have worn it a few times and keep getting compliments, now I just need the man parts to tell people where to get it from :P 

 

 

My niece couldn't stop looking at herself in the camera on my new iPhone 5. She is such a cutey, I spun out when I said hello to someone and out of her little mouth came "HELLOO" - I had never heard her talk before!

 

She has also started crawling in recent times, so it's been a big month for her. Must be tough!

 

 

One of my friend's puppies.. I dare you to say he is not cute? C'mon..I double dare you!

 

I love the attitude he has, I can't help but give him like a Mugley (is that the cartoon dog's name?) accent.

 

 

We are spoilt for sunsets from our balcony- SPOILT!!!

 

 

We had another Dat Girl photo shoot a few weeks ago, I am so excited to show everyone the new summer looks!

 

Why do I keep putting myself in photos with models? why? not my smartest move haha.

 

 

 

This is a new trick I taught myself on the pole when I was under the influence... I'm actually only holding on with one leg. I was very proud of myself.

 

We have our pole performance tonight and for the first time both my mum and A are coming to watch me... eeeep I hope I don't forget everything and look like a clutz! hahaha

Aspro Blu (Melbourne)

We had no idea where we wanted to go for our 3 year anniversary dinner in Melbourne. We wanted somewhere nice, but more importantly delicious!!

 

A being the researcher he is, looked up many reviews and comments about lots of restaurants in Melbourne, and surprised me with Aspro Blu in Hardware Lane.

 

Something to celebrate.. he still loves me!

 

I love Greek food and A loved the fact that they had so many raving reviews!!! They didn't have a menu on their website, but A was confident enough with the reviews and booked a table (something he would never normally do, so I knew the reviews must have been out of this world).

When I saw the menu I almost died with excitement... Everything read "definition of yum" and I wanted to order the whole menu twice, but I contained myself by remembering that the bodycon dress (by Dat Girl of course) probably wouldn't let me!

 

We started with my fav - a trio of dips!! The dips were awesome and the breads were plentiful, from memory it was around the $15 mark.

 

Calamari - A's favourite and it was delicious, fresh and grilled (around the $13 mark). A said it was the closest to what he use to eat in Greece.

 

These were fetta and I think ricotta balls? Sorry it's hard to remember but I do remember that they were delicious and the sauce had a bit of a kick to it. Also around that $13 mark. I savoured every bite of these bad boys.

After our 3 entrees we were feeling how our delightful French waiter said we might - pretty full, but it was a special occasion so we weren't stopping anytime soon!

Bring on the mains...

Slow roasted lamb. Greeks always do lamb so well and this fall of the bone and melt in my mouth lamb was no exception. From memory it was around $24. Ohh and the gravy sort of thing that came with it, well I could of drank it, it was that scrummy. yep I said scrummy lol.

 

 

Chat potatoes - I love A's mums potatoes so I can't say these were assss good as them, but they were a great side nonetheless.

Chicken with some sort of balsamic sauce that let me tell you was some of the juiciest, sauciest chicken I have ever ever eaten!! I litterally held in every mouthful, closed my eyes and enjoyed it. A couldn't get over my reaction, then he tried it.. he stopped teasing me.

A said this food rivaled his yiayias ( the biggest compliment a Greek can give) and I enjoyed every second of it.

The ambience was great, and the service was impeccable.

If your a melbournite or visiting Melbourne I suggest you try Aspro Blu... You can even take your Greek friends there ;)

  

 

We finished the night off with a cocktail or two  at Gin Palace.

Oodles of Noodles!

First of all, thank you for all your suggestions about Zombie makeup. I will let you know how I go.

Last Friday night was date night with A.

We started our date night off with me running late (as usual), because I was finishing off my 12 PAGE job application! I kid you not, it was 12pages! Writing Government job applications is like being back at uni again, but I had to make myself do it. I'm not going to lie I struggled and I needed my flat mate to force me, but i'm glad I did it! Fingers crossed.

After I finally left the office, A and I headed to Genghis Khan Mongolian BBQ in Darling Harbour.

I know I am probably one in a handful of people that hadn't been there before, but I hadn't even heard of it! A said the words "all you can eat noodles" to me and I was sold.

Hot, fattening and delicious entrees.

 I devoured many of these chicken wing thingies.

At Genghis Khan they provide a few trays of hot entrees and soup and then mutliple bay marines of meats, noodles and vegies for you to make your own noodle stir fry. You then choose your sauce and put it in the window for the chef to cook, 1 minute later you have the noodles you created hot and ready to eat! I was so excited about the concept and couldn't wait to get started...

Unfortunately, it was pretty busy on Friday night, so we a while for the chefs, but I didn't mind - you can't help these things.

Genghis Khan are currently celebrating their 30th birthday, so they are doing buy one get one drinks from 6-7pm. I may have downed a few of these little bottles...

They are also giving customers FREE dessert when you spend more than $25 per person. The Mongolian BBQ (aka all you can eat) is $26.80 per person so it is easy to score the free dessert.

All in all I loved the food and the concept at Genghis Khan. I think it would be a fun place to go with a big group of people.

After we stuffed ourselves silly, we headed to Tokio Hotel for the reason we headed out - to see our potential wedding band perform live.

We saw Soul Nights perform about a year ago at the same venue, but since then the singers have changed, so we wanted to watch them again.

We think the female singer is a lot stronger than the male singer, but either way they were fantastic!! The crowd loved them and I was grooving in my seat. A thought they were good, but in the set we watched they played a lot of Reggae music, which A says makes him want to sleep. Hmmph- I LOVED it.

I tried to take a video, not sure how good it is. Just ignore the picture and listen I guess.
