Wedding Photos

Our wedding photographer has been picked. We have decided to use CreatEV Photography and in all my excitement lately I went on to their facebook and picked some of my favourite shots to inspire me.

Is it weird to have a "list of shots" that you would like to have on your wedding day?? I know at our engagement in the midst of my excitement I didn't get a few I would have loved which is why I think a list would be good, but does this totally take away from the photographer's creativeness??

What do you think? Would you do it?

Also, if your from Sydney where do you think is a good spot for taking wedding photos??I need some ideas!!

P.S. Sorry this is a photo heavy blog, but I love looking at wedding photos (and it has been a quiet week at work), hopefully you do too!

These photos always seem to show such hapiness and a slight amount of pain, when it is rice being thrown hehe

Moment!!!

These two are both favourites!!

I really want a twirling my dress photo, i'm a big girl like that!

Cuties!!!

  1. It's definitely worth giving a shot list to your photographer! Especially if it's a shot that is special to you, or you don't often see. I kind of wish I had if told my photographer to take more photos of just the little details during the reception, I spent alot of time making and planning out my decorations but she only took one photo of decorations on the one table that wasn't even set up properly. It's really good to be specific with your vendors when you know exactly how you want things but also let them have free reign every now and again.

  2. Your photographer has done some great work. I had a list that my wedding planner looked after, to make sure we got all the important family shots.
Places in Sydney I like are The Rocks, QVB, Centennial Park, Mrs Macquaries Chair and GPO/Martin Place.

    1. The Rocks is one of my favourite places too. Family shots is something I really must consider, i'd hate to look back and not have pics with people who are close to me.

  4. Yep I think it's definitely a good idea!
I know we meet with our photographer one month before the wedding to really nut out what shots we want from our photography and videography. He said we could come with a list of required shots, obviously we both definitely need to agree on the venues or even a group of photos that show the style I'm after.
He also asked whether we were open to 'direction' for more dramatic shots or whether we wanted more natural, so to get the photos you want on the day I think it is important to be organised and prepared with a vision in mind.
PS: the wedding organiser in every issue of Cosmo Bride has template for required photography shots to give to your photographer, I've found it useful for prompting ideas I hadn't even thought about! :)

@AshMac, it's definitely one of my 'must-haves' to have photos of the reception details too!
The reception is the most costly part of the wedding and probably the part the most effort goes into organising as well and I found it so hard to find a photographer whose package included some reception coverage to cake, speeches etc. some packages ended only one hour in with some ridiculous cost to keep them for one more hour. I'm happy with my choice though, will have to blog all about it soon!

  6. A shot list is a really great idea! The wedding my fiancé was in over east we were with the bride & groom when they met with their photographer and having a list of ideas to discuss was great.

Love your blog btw - I'm going through the wedding planning thing too at the moment, nice to see I'm on the right track (haven't booked as much as you yet, but I will get there!)

DW about how much I have booked... a lot of decisions I knew prior to the engagement ;) hehehe plus I have given myself a timeline of what to do in which month...hahah yes i'm an organised freak!!!!!
