The Long Weekend

As usual, I am delayed in my blog posts, but I couldn't not post about the Easter long weekend.. we had waay too much fun!

 

 

 

On the Thursday night we headed out to our local with the usual crowd and as usual it ended with MacDonalds at 3am.

Our Good Friday started surrounded by all the hungover-feeling-sorry-for-themselves friends from the night before, and even though we had every intention to make it to the Royal Easter Show, fate stood in our way.. after driving all the way there to be faced with a sign saying "No casual parking, all lots are full", we turned around and went home to have a scary movie marathon with a few friends.

 

One of the movies we chose was Australian. Do I need to say much more? What is it about Aussie accents in movies that just get so darn annoying?!

 

On Saturday we headed west to have lunch with my mum at Liana's in Parramatta.

 

 

After parking we found this... what a lovely, unexpected surprise - thanks council man.

 

 

Mum's chicken (on the left) actually tasted like pancakes with maple syrup on them.. for real! It was so strange, but  uber delicious.

Saturday night and we headed to Tharens in the Cross. Do you remember last time I went there? It is a great place for lots of photos with silly hats, and just like last time we had a great night with our friends.

 

 

 

 

 

Easter Sunday was just more movies with A - my family doesn't do too much these days, not now we are too old for Easter egg hunting.

 

On Easter Monday we finally made it back to the Royal Easter Show and had a really good day walking around, looking at everything.

 

 

Have you seen the "goats screaming like humans" on YouTube? We saw it for the first time a few days before the easter show and A thinks it is the funniest thing evverrrr! A has a hugely infectious laugh so when he starts laughing, we all do.. he literally laughs when you even mention the goats, so it was no surprise he was excited when we saw the goats at the show...

 

 

 

...and then like another sign of fate, we heard a goat screaming like a human. What were the freaking chances? I am pretty sure it made A's whole long weekend!

Catching Up

Since I got back from Thailand, I feel like I have been doing a million and one things... working out, cooking, socialising, wedding planning.... but then when going through my phone for photos for this post, I cam to the conclusion that it mainly has been all for my business or just not photo worthy. Hmm.

 

 

Our final week performance was rock and roll, so I decided to do it in denim shorts. NOBODY SHOULD EVER do pole in denim - it hurts!!

 

We headed down to Meet the Greek in Brighton le Sands with a few friends one Saturday night and as always it didn't dissapoint. We have converted a few more people now.

The next morning we headed back down to the beach for a yummy breakfast.

 

Ever since making my first poached egg a few months ago, I have become OBSESSED with them!

My friends hens party was on  last weekend and I have never had a bad night when there is topless waiters around and endless champagne. Never have I ever.

 

Her hens was at Retro hotel and part of the package included Puppetry of the PeePee and I have never laughed/been horrified so much.

 

I stupidly had too much fun, didn't get home until 3.30am and then woke up at 6am for a markets day. Arghh I only had myself to blame and when A whispered "I hate you", I couldn't agree with him more and hate myself too! lol.

 

We went to a local Pub the other night and this was my meal!!!

 

I can't remember the sauce now it was like cajun or peri perio or something along those lines and underneath it was a Quinoa salad with Balsamic dressing.

 

Quinoa is another food I am obsessed with lately.. have you jumped on that bandwagon? If not, you should! It is delicious, healthy and filling. 

 

 

This huge puppy visited my stall last Saturday, he was massive!

I helped to promote my pole studio Suzie Q on the weekend and let me tell you... noone should be on a pole constantly over a 5hour period. At the end, I could barely lift myself up and now 2 days later I am still in a lot of pain.

 

I just have to remind myself that it is "good" pain, right?

 

What has everyone been up to??! Tell me tell me please.

He's getting old!

First of all... I'm sorry. I have been posting a lot less this week. Work has been GO GO GO, then I had A's birthday, our party (to plan and recover from) and then yesterday I spent the whole day in bed, drugged up, thanks to our monthly visitor (too much information? probably, but hey it's the truth!)! So now I will try and catch you up.. Let's start with A's birthday...

Last Thursday was my main man's birthday. A turned 28. I told him that he keeps getting older, while I just stay young and beautiful :) I'm nice aren't I? I really don't think he cares about getting older. I think he believes he will be my very own George Clooney! Hehehe

I couldn't do much in the morning in the way of spoiling, as A likes to go to work early, but I tried my best!

I woke up before A, went and got all of his presents out of the spare room and placed them all around him in bed, as he slowly woke up I told him to "OPEN THEM! OPEN THEM!".

I got A a Playstation Vita (the new PSP), a tennis game, a whole bunch of lollies from the happy lab and this customised cartoon....

A is obsessed with Star Wars, so I thought a cartoon version of him as Yoda (with a beer) was perfect. He said he loved it and couldn't stop staring at it.

When A decided to jump in to the shower, I told him I had to get my dress from upstairs, ran up to the kitchen and started whipping up some pancakes. When he walked out of the shower BAM there I was in our room holding a plate full of pancakes with strawberry jam - his favourite :)

After work, I waited for A to come out of his building holding a bunch of tiger Lillis behind my back. I gave him the flowers, a birthday kiss and hug, then escorted him to dinner. He didn't know where we were going and I liked it like that.

 I took him to Selah in Circular Quay, a beautiful modern Australian restaurant. I knew A would love the menu.

From the second we walked in, A remarked on how "fancy" and "romantic" the place looked. He also thought the service from our French waiter was impeccable.

We started our meal with the squid (a's all time favourite meal), which was sooo delicious and I have to say as the fiance of a squid lover, I have eaten a truckload of it, but this will go down in the record books as the yummiest!! It was so juicy and the herbs and spices rival that of Colonel's.

For main, A ordered the lamb back strap and I had the Duck. Both meals were delicious.

After dinner, A and I went for a bit of a romantic stroll around the city and then headed home.

At home our roomie had been baking an Apple Pie for A (another favourite). It was delicious and A loved the surprise.

All in all, I think we made A feel special. Goal accomplished.

Tharens

For our engagement, two of our friends bought A and I dinner at Tharens with 11 of our closest friends.

Tharens is a cosy little themed restaurant in Kings Cross.

As soon as I walked into Tharens and was greeted by a waitress dressed as Snow White, I knew it was going to be a good night! All around the restaurant and at the table were a  plethora of hats, wigs and feather bowers and I am pretty confident in saying that we tried most of them on!

After all of our guests had arrived and we settled in, the waitress bought garlic bread and salad to the table, and then asked us to pick one entree and one main each. The choices were great. I had the prosciutto wrapped chicken with bocconcini for an entree and the three cheese (mmm I love cheese) chicken for the main.

The food was deeeelicious! As Tharens is a themed restaurant, I have to be honest, I was not expecting much at all from the food. I thought the food would be average, but the entertainment would make up for it. I was wrong. The food was yummy and plentiful. So were the many many alcoholic drinks we consumed that night (as can be seen by the pictures) haha.

During the courses we were entertained by a Magician called Dodgy Dave, who got us involved in a variety of card tricks. He even managed to make a hanky disappear into his hand and come out in A's fly! He was awesome and a good character.

Drunken Witch

After dinner the old school tunes were cranked up a bit more, but then a COP walked in... ..... a naughty COP!!! The party next to ours was a birthday party and they had hired a stripper. I had made friends with that table throughout the night and so one of the girls grabbed me for pole position before the action started. Thank you honey!! A kept trying to shield my innocent eyes. Bless him.

After the stripper cleared we continued dancing in the restaurant with our funny hats on until we decided we all needed to go home. We had drank ourselves to bedtime.

All in all it was a great night!! The staff at Tharens were so attentive and fun, everyone enjoyed themselves and I would go back there any day!
