My First Dress Fitting

Remember how I found my dress in ahhhh like July last year?!!! Well last Thursday I went back to Couture by Francesca for my very first fitting!

To say I was excited is an understatement, I was giddy, a little nervous and felt like a little kid at Christmas time all over again.

See the excitement?

We actually didn't do that much for my dress, except talk about what I wanted again, have a quick sketch drawn up and take my measurements. Of course this was followed by the whole "what do you intend to do leading up to the wedding...", which was started by some comment I made about my sausage arms. Pretty standard in a wedding dress salon I am guessing.

Seen as it had been 6 months since I picked the dress, I asked if I could try on the sample gown again. I was so so nervous as she put me in it, I was scared I was going to become one of those girls on "Say Yes to the Dress", who argues it is not the same dress, or who knows it is the same one but hates it now and has to fork out thousands more dollars for a new one.

Luckily, I am not one of those girls. As soon as I was clipped into my dress, I fell in love all over again! I couldn't stop smiling, my bridesmaid and mum were taking pictures and I wanted to get married there and then!

I am so excited about my dress, I want to show you, and everyone else the photos... but for once I am going to keep my big mouth SHUT! SORRY!

At my next appointment, I will take photos of the construction and that should be okay to share.

I will show you one photo now though... my shoes underneath my dress.

The right show still has the cardboard under the flowers, but you get the idea.

Under 10 months to go now. YEYYYY!!!

P.S. Sorry for the poor photos, my iphone flash has broken.

Cinderella Moment: my wedding shoes!!

Let me Start this post off by saying that I am utterly exhausted! With the trips to and from Melbourne, early mornings at work, chiro appointments and now editing (yes it's been revealed to me) the Dat Girl website... I am just pooped!!! So much so that when I picked up a package at work on Monday, I didn't even rip it open..or get excited...

Nope, it sat on my desk for a good 3 hours before I decided to take a peek...

Inside the package were the shoes that I will wear when I walk down the aisle to A!!

Remember I bought these shoes a while ago but they were too small and didn't have enough support?

Well I gave up the shoe hunt for a while, occasionally searching for pink wedding shoes, and then I came across these beauties by Badgley Mischka.

They looked like a perfect kind of pink, and soft and pretty, just like my dress.

Unfortunately, the Randee shoe is a few seasons old and wherever I looked no one had them in stock in the pink :(

I thought I wouldn't be able to get them, until I decided to do an eBay search and BAM there they were, size 9 (I'm usually an 8.5, but minor details), new in box with all plastic and cardboard bits attached. The seller didn't send items outside of the US, but I could handle that.

from the eBay listing

I thought about the purchase for a while, then the next day I went to place my bid, only to see the auction had ended. More sad faces!!! :( :( :(

Luckily, everyone else "forgot to bid" too and the item was re listed.. 7 days later I won the auction. Fate.

The shoes were sent to my US address and then to me.

They fit PERFECTLY, and are so soft and delicate, I think they are just beautiful!

The little bit of a platform will be a godsend on the big day and the bottom of the shoe is almost the same colour as the BM dresses here too.

I'd show you the picture of them on my feet, but I am waaaaay over due for a pedicure, so you will have to settle for the above bride's feet.

It felt like my very own Cinderella moment, when I slipped these babies on and I am glad I kept trying to find the perfect shoes! :)

Wedding deliveries

I have had a few wedding related deliveries this past week.. I have also had a few comments from people about how organised I am in planning the wedding well ahead of time - I swear planning is my middle name
 - A is not surprised at all.

So what did I receive?

My shoes arrived from netaporter, packed so sweetly....

Unfortunately they are toooo small. They are a size 40 and fit my girl who is usually a 37/38. Back to the shoe searching I continue...

Any suggestions are more than welcome!!

I also received my garters from NanaRoseDesigns - one throw away and one keepsake.

They were such a good price at only $27USD for both.

The pink is a little darker than I expected, but I love them nonetheless. There was also some "Hollywood tape" in the bag to ensure the garter doesn't slip - if I continue to lose weight this will be very important!

I also received some sample invites from Ink and Love.

I previously thought that I had decided what style I would like and it would be like this one I posted, but then I laid my eyes on these beautiful lace beauties...

They are all around the $5mark, which I don't think is too bad at all.

Mum, I and Zoe from Big Apple Red are currently playing around with the idea of using black lace throughout the styling and these invitations will go perfectly. I love the glamour black lace can bring to an event.

What do you think of black lace styling? Have you been to a wedding with it or seen any inspirational photos along that theme? I need all the help I can get!!!

On the topic of all things wedding.... my makeup artist (trial next Saturday eeeep!) Susie Ayoub has been posting many "before and afte"r shots on her Facebook recently..

I think they look great and really showcase her talent!

I looove this look above!

I can't wait for my own transformation next week!!

WEDDING SHOES!!!

I have been looking at potential wedding shoes since we got engaged. NO JOKE. I love shoes and I love planning my wedding, so really this should come as no surprise lol.

Originally I wanted classic white peep toes with a bit of spunk like diamontes or a blue bowed shoe clip.

My next faze was blue shoes for my something blue, but nothing really hit me and I figured it might clash with the softness of the BM dresses.

Lately, I have searched many, changed my mind daily and the only constant thing I have looked for is shoes with a bit of colour, that a soft, pretty and of course WOW!

I had a particular pair of Rosamosario shoes saved to my favourties on Internet Explorer for a while now and yesterday as I was cleaning up my favourites, I clicked on them again to see they were now 40% OFF on net-a-porter.com.

SOLD.

These Rosamosario Monica Bellucci lace-covered satin mules will be my wedding shoes (hopefully).

(all photos from net-a-porter.com)

I say hopefully, because net-a-porter says they are a small size and they only had a 40 left, so fingers crossed they fit and the heel isn't TOO high.

I think the soft pink and black lace will go perfectly with our pink, black and white coloured theme, while giving me a little bit of POP colour underneath my dress.

I am in love with these buttons and I want similar ones (in white) on my dress.

What do you think? Do you like them?
